About ReTweed
ReTweed is a pioneering rural social enterprise in the Scottish Borders. We deliver innovative training and skills development for women through craft, design and technology. We offer women a new way to think about their future by investing in their skills and confidence.
In a supportive environment, women can enjoy learning new skills, build new connections, find new ways to express themselves and increase their self-belief, encouraging them to move forward in their life’s journey.
Each student learns to use a sewing machine and creates a range of beautiful handmade furnishings, fashions and crafts. We sell these products to re-invest in ReTweed, taking us forward as a not-for-profit business supporting women and promoting community good.
We deliver on the Greener Scotland agenda of decreasing carbon footprint by reducing, re-using, recycling and repairing. At least 80% of the textiles we use to make our products are upcycled – we love our planet and aim to get folk thinking creatively about upcycling.
By giving a second life to textiles we produce unique, beautiful, useful products and encourage people to make a difference with their purchasing power - buying ethically and sustainably.
We want to encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to discover the creative potential of heritage and thrift skills and educate audiences about the surprising innovation in recycling and upcycling.
Our work is made possible by the support of our funding partners.
